Bloomington and Peoria players took all the points! Congratulations to them! Looks they are ready for the Illinois Challenge Cup next weekend! | February 08, 2012 results . . . Laurel on the Loose 1st - Laurel Patkes 2nd - Jena Jennings Laurel's second time at bat this year proved to be a big home run! She scored against Barb and then Jena to win this week's Championship match. Kudos to her!
The Consolation round went to Jeff and Dan. After some some great play Dan took the win home with him. Seven players braved the chill and wind to play this week! We are glad that you all came and hope you will be back next week. If there are any home or computer backgammon players out there that would like to take a stab at some real life board action come on out. Your level of skill is not important (believe me). We are always ready to accept new players. You will have a great time and gain skill while doing it. We play every Wednesday evening at 6 pm sharp at the Capitol Teletrack in Springfield, IL. For those not familiar - that is the horse race betting parlor on Wabash Avenue, across the street from Shop N Save. NOTICE TO ALL PLAYERS: Get your game face on! On Sunday, February 8, 2009, the Sangamon Valley Backgammon Association won their first Illinois Challenge Cup after 23 attempts. The win was exhilarating to say the very least. We were so proud and happy - and we looked pretty good too! Since that day several of the clubs have worn their "colors" for the tournament. Not only was our club winners, we were fashion trend setters!!!! In the picture from left to right - John Jennings, Randy Armstrong, Steve McGuire in back, Michael Plog, Jena Jennings and last, but by far least, down in front - Greg Tomlin (GT). GT passed away in 2009, but he'll be watching and probably cursing*@#&. The location for the Champion Cup has been announced. The big event will take place at the Parthenon Restaurant, 314 S. Halsted, Chicago, IL on Sunday, February 12, 2012. Tel. 312-726-2407 - Fax 312-726-3203. There is FREE valet parking. The Parthenon is just West of I-94. The best way to get there, from the North or South, is to exit at Adams and drive 1.5 blocks South.
